№ 01 — Why a relocator uses Booking

The 30 to 60 day window

The structural Booking.com feature for a relocator is the free cancellation default. 78 percent of Booking listings let you cancel 24 to 48 hours before check in at no charge. The first 30 to 60 days in a new city are typically spent in temporary housing while a longer lease is found. Booking lets you book the unit before landing, cancel without penalty if the destination changes, and switch to a different listing if the first one disappoints in person.

№ 02 — The Genius math

How loyalty pays

Genius is Booking's loyalty program with three tiers. Genius 2 unlocks at 5 stays in 2 years and adds a 10 percent discount. Genius 3 unlocks at 15 stays and adds 20 percent plus free breakfast on 35 percent of listings. For a relocator who does 4 to 6 trips a year, Genius 2 is reachable in the first year. The 10 percent off a 90 dollar a night Berlin apartment for 30 days is 270 dollars saved.

№ 03 — Where it breaks

The honest limits

Booking is weaker on apartment listings versus Idealista (Spain, Portugal), PropertyFinder (UAE), and the local platforms. The apartment inventory skews to short term hotel like rentals. For a true 6 month lease, use the local platform.
